Research Misconduct
Research Misconduct is defined as “Fabrication, Falsification, or Plagiarism in proposing or performing research, reviewing research, or in reporting research results.” Research Misconduct does not include honest error or differences of opinion. A finding of Research Misconduct requires the following conditions:
- There is significant departure from accepted practices of the relevant research community.
- The misconduct is committed intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly.
- The allegation be proven by a Preponderance of the Evidence.
CUNY’s Policy Regarding the Disposition of Allegations of Research Misconduct outlines the procedures involved in an research misconduct inquiry and investigation.
